Some real estate professionals lead with awards, production numbers, and polished corporate biographies. Bridgette Otero leads with honesty, humor, and the belief that real estate is ultimately about people, not sales pitches.
As an independent broker with NMHG, Bridgette has earned a reputation for delivering exceptional service while remaining unapologetically authentic. She has the rare ability to make clients laugh while navigating some of the most significant financial decisions of their lives. Her wit is sharp, her observations are candid, and her perspective on real estate is refreshingly human.
Don't mistake the humor for a lack of seriousness. Behind every joke is a professional who understands negotiations, advocates fiercely for her clients, communicates directly, and approaches every transaction with diligence and care. Bridgette knows that buying or selling a home can be stressful, emotional, and occasionally overwhelming. Rather than pretending otherwise, she embraces the reality of the process and helps her clients navigate it with confidence, clarity, and the occasional well-timed laugh.
The bio that follows is entirely Bridgette; unfiltered, self-aware, and memorable. By the time you finish reading it, you'll have a much better understanding of who she is, how she works, and whether she's the right Realtor for you. If nothing else, you'll probably never look at a colonoscopy the same way again.
Finding the right Realtor is like getting a colonoscopy. Very few wake up excited about the process. There’s paperwork and computer portals you don’t understand, conversations about things you’d rather avoid and at some point, someone starts saying scary things like “inspection period” in a tone usually reserved for hostage negotiations. I’ve literally read two books about hostage negotiations-Never Split the Difference and Hostage at the Table. Extremely valuable in my line of work or if I’m ever GenXnapped and need to get myself home to feed my Yorkie, Oliver ASAP.
Preparation. Much like a colonoscopy, buying or selling a home requires you to be uncomfortable. If you’re selling, you’re going to have to clean and purge. A lot. If you’re buying, you’re going to have to figure out what you want, what you can afford and what you’ll do if you receive bad news. Also like a colonoscopy prep, most real estate transactions give you gastrointestinal issues. You’ll probably feel queasy and may have to visit the restroom frequently. It’s completely normal. I carry toilet paper in my car. We got this.
Searching for the right professional. You want someone experienced, calm under pressure and capable of delivering difficult news gently and good news violently and joyfully. You want someone who is diplomatically aggressive when they need to be yet capable of not burning bridges everywhere they go. Real estate is a small, petty world and you don’t want your transaction to be jeopardized by someone who nobody likes. You want someone who seriously has your best interests at heart. You don’t want a salesperson; you want a human being who has dedicated their life to serving others.
A good realtor is like a gastroenterologist in that nobody knows exactly why that would be that person’s calling, and why do most of them drive a Lexus, a Toyota or an Outback? Ideally, you want someone who has seen things. Ugly things. Deadly things. Funny things. I drive a Buick Enclave SUV, but you can’t ride in it. I’m in perimenopause, and I need to be able to have complete control over my climate and music volume. Ok, fine. Hop in. It’s a balmy 62 degrees. Here’s a blanket and a snack. I hope you like Now That’s What I Call Real Estate Volume 97.
When you find the right Realtor, the process becomes manageable. You’ll feel informed, protected and slightly less afraid of paperwork. You may even feel hopeful or dare I say it…………at peace. Everyone is not right for everyone. It’s imperative that you interview potential Realtors! Do they answer the phone when you call? Are they available during hours that you keep? Do they have a full-time job elsewhere and can’t zip across counties at any minute should trouble arise? Do they genuinely seem interested in helping you or just collecting a paycheck? Only you know what you need and only you know who you are comfortable with. Listen to others, listen to the internet, listen to this Ted Talk I just made you read but most of all, listen to your GUT.
A little more about me, I’m a lifelong resident of New Mexico. I’ve lived in Albuquerque, Los Lunas, Los Chavez and in several areas in Albuquerque. My headshot is 6 years old. I need to color my hair before I take a new one. I don’t use AI, I prefer reading out of a real book and holding real papers. I have degrees in accounting and business management. I’ve had two traumatic marriages and two glorious divorces, and I am rather happy with my current husband. If I’m not obsessed with your real estate transaction, you’ll find me doing yoga, wearing earplugs at concerts, reading, decorating my home or my clients’ homes, writing, lifting weights, traveling, spending time with my grandchildren or children, refinishing furniture, painting, bike riding, making jewelry, trying to learn various instruments(no I can’t play any) or buying my dog another unnecessary sweater.
If you made it to the end of this ridiculous bio-cheers! Maybe you should give me a call, at least to tell me that reading this made you remember it’s time for your colonoscopy.
